Fertigyn 5000 i.u., is being manufactured by Sun Pharma is an HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) drug which is a water soluble glycoprotein that is injected into the muscle or under the skin. It is used to treat infertility in women, increase sperm count in men, and for the treatment of certain pituitary gland disorders, particularly in young boys.

While treating fertility, this medicine stimulates the ovaries causing them to produce and expel the eggs during the woman's cycle of ovulation. Fertigyn is also prescribed to men with a low sperm count and to boys with testicles that have not dropped normally into the scrotum.

Fertigyn is chorionic gonadotrophin. It is usually given to women who are pregnant and have suffered previous miscarriages and those who have spotting in early pregnancy.It halps to maintain the pregnancy in its early stage.It is also given in women with P.C.O.D who usually suffer abortions in the first three months of pregnancy.In your case it is being given as no corpus luteum was seen in your U.S.S.The corpus luteum maintains the pregnancy in its first stage until the placenta can be formed and the absence of a corpus luteum can lead to miscarriage if Fertigyn is not given.Usually the injection is advised upto the 12 th week of pregnancy.

Fertigyn 5000 iu  Intake guidelines

Keep this medicine away from direct sunlight. Store it in a place that is far from the reach of pets and children in order to avoid unwanted accidents such as poisoning.

Fertigyn 5000 iu Dosage

Dosage in the case of female patients: They should be administered one injection of 5000 -10000 I.U. of this medicine. Dosage in the case of male patients: They should be administered an injection of 1000-2000 I.U. of medicine, from 2 to 3 times each week. It is best that each dose of Fertigyn should be administered by an authorized medical healthcare provider.

Fertigyn 5000 iu  Side effects

A prolonged treatment with this medicine is known to trigger several reactions at the injection site (like pain, bruising, redness, itching and swelling). Some patients who had been treated with HCG Fertigyn have experienced some allergic reactions to this medicine that were manifesting as rash, pain or swelling at the injection site. HCG Fertigyn’s rare side effects are known to include fever or rash.

Female patients who have been treated with this product have experienced unpleasant ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. In the case of male patients who have received HCG Fertigyn, sodium and water retention is occasionally experienced, especially after the patient has been administered a high dose of this medicine (this condition is probably triggered by an excessive androgen production). In some cases, a treatment with HCG Fertigyn may sometimes cause gynaecomastia.
